Same problems that others experience

I tend to hold reel with index finger under the line in the front. Doing this you adjust the brakes without realizing while casting. (Cast righy use lefty version) The other problem is after about 300 or so casts the reel makes a grinding vibration about 1/3 turn of the handle. This was also my first Daiwa purchase. I'm typically a Shimano guy but I like to try out various brands. Loved the reel in the store hated it after a day on the water.

Aird reel

I bought this reel based on the name. I have had good experience with Diawa products. The only problem I have with this reel is that the mag brake is not recessed into the reel. After casting this reel I noticed that the mag brake was rolling in my hand and I had to reset it every 2 or 3 cast.
Not worth the trouble.

Excellent Choice

I like this reel so much, I went and bought two, the first one sits on a matching Daiwa Aird 6,6" M/H rod spooled w/ Spider-wire, and the second sits on an Abu Garcia Vengeance 7 ft Heavy, and let me say, for the utter joy of fishing with these reel's, I should be able to give it 10*, Super Smooth, Solid Anti-Reverse, Quiet, Extremely Strong Drag,,,Strong enough to reel in a 27pd Muskie, I accidentally caught while fishing for Large-Mouth @ Stoney Lake, ON. I would most definitely recommend this reel(& Daiwa Aird Rod) to anyone who's been searching for that "I wish it was a $200 reel, for less than $100.00".
You will not Go Wrong purchasing this one, It's a Keeper.

Feels solid and delivers enough power for most situations.
Good ergonomically with good backlash control after dialing in preference.

I bought this reel for my carrot stick rod , and all in all it is a great combo for me. the reel is one of the if not the smoothies casters i have. I have had no trouble with backlash or any other problems.
If you need a dependable, smooth casting reel i would greatly recommend this reel.
