Very good baitcaster

I use this reel primarily for casting spinners from the bank for salmon. Paired with a 9' rod, this thing casts like a dream with its super -free spool design. I landed a 20 lbs salmon from the bank and the drag handled the fish well even with wild 50' runs. My only gripe is the initial build quality. The little plastic nubs inside that hold the inertia driven brakes can get stuck in the outward position. This can set up for not so smooth casting as it slows the reel down. Be sure to check this by opening up the side plate and make sure each nub can move freely in each guide. Also when re-assembling, be sure that there is no play in the spool to throw things off. Once things are back together and super free spooling, you will likely get more back lashes where adjustment of the external nob is needed to control that. The super free spool will spin like a top, but that is what you want to balance the pressure of your thumb. This is a great alternative to the Curado, which I also have. These are ultra light reels that make casting comfortable and enjoyable.

I bought the left handed retrieve to use for flipping/pitching. I spooled it with braid and had no trouble at all. I also used it when frog fishing later in the summer. Reel cast smooth with all uses. Did not backlash the reel with either applications. Will be buying another soon!
