recently purchased and used this reel for use in the Everglades, and for fresh water peacock bass fishing. It is very easy to use , hardly backlashed at all once I had the spool tension set correctly for the weight of the bait I was using. I did not really stress test, as a massive cold front hit the week I was fishing. I did catch a number of Largemouth and peacock bass from the flood control canals in Miami before the front passed thru. Overall I was quite pleased with the performance of this reel. It cast light plastics and heavy plugs with out any problems, and it held up to the salt pretty well.
Of course you do need to rinse in fresh water at the end of each day.

Excellent Reel

Casts extremely well (comparable to an Advantage Supertuned or TDX Supertuned), has a good drag, and has held up very well for me. I've fished it in saltwater and landed some huge redfish/black drum, and also use it for bass fishing. It's got enough finesse to flip small worms, but it's got enough power to handle 30lb+ drum.
I'd buy another

My son and I have 2 of these reels and they work flawlessly. Smooth and easy to use and care for. I have pulled many fish to the boat with these reels. Bring them home, rinse with fresh water, blow the water out and drop a drop of sewing machine oil into them and they will last forever.
