The worst!
Grinding sound and poor casting distance OR complete failure of the braking system resulting in huge over runs.
I never know which will happen on any given cast. Going into the shop a second time after three months of use.
Will never buy again!

G series is old citica

have the old 200e series so I picked up a g5 and g7. wondered why they sell for $159 instead of $179. All they did was paint a citica green and charge $30 more for it and call it a curado. the curado 200e series is now the chronarch 200e series that shimano took the old curado painted is white and black and charge $20 more for it.. what a joke.

Very nice reel. Is a pleasure to fish with. Now I have Curado 301E, Curado 201G and Chronarch 51E to use in different situations and techniques.
Worth every penny to get Shimano quality!

Great reel

Getting one of these has been in the back of my mind for a long time. The 200G7 does everything I want. A nice surprise was being able to cast 1/4 oz lures on 12# line with a medium rod. Very smooth.

Great Reel

Now have two, one for walleye, one for Steel Head fishing. They are great, fast and strong! Here in Washington the Columbia river has lots of current, so that added to a caught fish, one needs a strong, fast reel!

best bait cast reel so far

this reel casts further and has better control than any others I have tried. The 7 to 1 gear ratio gets the bait back to the rod tip sooner and I can keep the bait in the strike zone.
Just remember to slow down the crank speed if you need a slow presentation.

Best Curado Yet! Silky smooth and casts a mile

2012-12-08T11:06:53

I bought this reel (the 200G6 flavor of the G series) last week and spent several hours with it today on the water (saltwater).
This reel reminds me of the old Curado Bantam 200BSF that stands as the greatest baitcasting reel ever. The 200G6 is just amazing and proves again that the most expensive reels aren't always the best. Same feel as the old bantam. Line lays out silky smooth and casts further than any baitcasting reel in my arsenal. I jaw-dropped after only the first couple of casts that darn near brought a tear to my eye. I am not going to make the same mistake of not buying several of the old bantams back in the day. I plan on buying 3 or 4 of these with different retrieval ratios. It is just that good.
Kudos to Shimano!

Equals the Abu Garcia Revo SX in quality.

my first casting reel in 15 years .wow have they come a long way. this reel is so easy to set up for no backlash. i had 1 overrun and one adjustment and then i was casting like a pro. my first walleye with this reel was 28 in. and the reel handled it perfectly along with my fenwick rod. well worth the money on both items. remember. you get what you pay for.
