I just bought my first pflueger purist spinning reel and it literally fell apart in my hands after less than one hour of use. I don't know if I just got a bad one but when the shaft falls out with the spool attached and the handle falls off too I just gave up. The reel was less than a week old and I brought it back the next day. That is the last pflueger I will ever buy...I got another shimano to replace it. Lesson learned...go with something you trust.

I've been looking for a quality, medium priced spinning reel for a while.This reel is smooth like a Pflueger should be.The Purist has the aluminum handle, for strength in the area of high torque, and it has composite material in other areas that are not under as much stress which saves on weight. I've bought some reels in the last couple of years with the composite handle (which a lot of companies seem to be using) and have had the handle literally snap in half when setting the hook. So I was looking for a reel with the aluminum handle.
This is a great reel for the weekend fisherman.
