I purchased the 6000 model for surf fishing along the west coast. so far this thing has shown durability and still reels in smoothly.
I have used for over 5 months now and have only oiled it twice. it also takes a good beating and has kept on ticking.

This reel is amazingly smooth, has held it own on several salt water fishing trips. After each trip I make sure to rinse the reel in fresh water and it works like new.

Started using the 4000 this year with a 7 foot medium light saltwater rod for casting and have pulled in many bluefish and striped bass up to 6 pounds with no trouble. Reels nice and smooth and the drag runs nice while battling a heavier fish. No troubles with the bail either. Can take a beating with scratches on the outside but still runs true like all Penn reels. Just have to rinse it with freshwater.
