These are great reels for the price.
I have six of these reels and they have never let me down.
They have a good drag and have held up very well in saltwater.

Great offshore spinning reel

I use these exclusively for bottom fishing and tarpon occasionally.
What an awesome reel! The drag is smooth, plenty of crank, and casts perfect.
I have the 8000 series which is great for bottom fishing and would buy this again or possibly a Shimano Baitrunner

Great reel

This reel is made for surfishing. Smooth drag, strong gears, and perfect gear ratio for plugging. And i like the aluminum frame. The older model spheros and the new one is the same reel except the new ones have a stronger drag and the propulsion spool lip which are very nice upgrades. Shimano really does their homework when they make reels. I don't buy any other brand but shimano.

4000FB

Recently bought “Spheros 4000FB” reel to match Tsunami Airwave 9 ft rode. Love it. It is very light and smooth. It has water proof drag, so surf fishing is not a problem. However the main disadvantage is a small spool size. I am using 50# PP, so this does not have capacity to hold enough line. I would recommend 8000FB (19oz) if you need bigger spool but if you need a light reel, stick to 4000FB (12oz).

Spheros fails

Bought two 4000s, liked them, bought 5 more (that's 7!), after use (maybe 20-30 trips), bail arms slip out in same place. Have had 4 fail so far. Expensive fix, no fun with fish on.
Have had many reels, not seen this.
