I bought this reel back in January and do a lot of fishing mostly fresh water I bought the 50 for catching giant blue and flathead catfish I paired it with a 10ft abu garcia workhorse that i have had for several years and it preformed flawlessly but I would expect nothing less from penn I caught everything from small 10lb cats up to a 72lb flathead and everything in between with this reel the bait click is soft enough to alert me to the softest bite and when your trying to pull a wiskered giant off the bottom the drag is powerful enough to really put pressure on them I also use them to snag for spoolbill in the spring time and have to be able to cast long distances I had never tried casting a lever drag and was very surprised at how easy it was and the distance is amazing being able to throw a 2 to 3 oz sinker well over 100 yards I am however having to buy a new one for the fact that mine was stolen overall this reel is an amazing buy for anyone who wants to go after big fish either in salt or freshwater.

I bought the 60LD its the first non level wind lever drag i have owned and its just short of amazing im a pier fisher man and paired this reel on a senator rod. And it performed in every way i expected a Penn perform my biggest fish was a 6 foot plus black tip and there no problems at all with it the i was a little different not having a level wind but thats not the reels fault and again amazing in every way if i need another fighting reel this is the way ill go every time.

This reel served my right this year for snagging. Reels in easy and feels comfortable. Tough and dependable when I got snagged with 40 lb mono line on it.

This is a Great reel by Penn, I got this for Deep water Cod and pollack and it works awesome. Nice quite smooth operation. I have had it 7 Months now and it has worked flawlessly on over 25 off shore bottom trips. The 6:1 is great for deep fishing, pulling Cod up to 25 lbs from 300+ feet

Only my 2nd reel I've purchased. Have uses a few others. I am really pleased and happy with this reel. I have been deep sea fishing twice. People think I'm crazy to fish on the ocean in January. Cannot wait to when I'm going weekly.
Great to handle. Easy to reel. Love the drag system and bail this reel offers.
Nice job Penn!

Won Snapper Tournament with this!

I purchased a 40LD last year and took it out bottom fishing. When I got on the boat, the deck hand made a comment about me busting that thing before the day was up. Bot did I surprise him! First I bring in a 28.4 lb snapper with no issues. At that point the deck hand wanted to try it out and was really impressed with how it handled. The reel is really smooth even under extreme pressure. By the end of the day, the hand and captain were talking about getting these for their boat. I now own a 60LD and can't wait to catch my first yellowfin tuna with this bad boy!
