Quality reel no doubt, but $$$!
My experience is that the reel is a little heavy on the handle side....feels a little lopsided. The Fuego was a much better balanced reel!

Get ready...get to the bank, save your ones and fives until you have the bank, then buy this reel!!! I have core, calias, chronarch, dc reels and daiwa 50 year anniversary reels...but...they are not like this one. Agreed a bit high on the money side but once you hold this black beauty in your hand your casting world will change forever. Put the weight on, set the drag and give it your best shot.....and then get ready to catch your breath.....this reel rocks! Strong as Thor......beautiful as SALT.... The biggest problem is now...spending time with any other reel if its not this one. There I said it...now let me get back to fishing steelies with this jewel......Fish On!!!!!!!

Good Mid level reel

I purchased this reel for it's 7.3:1 gear ratio. I also own a number of other Daiwa reels, including Steez and a few JDM reels. This reel, minus the carbon fiber handle, is pretty much identical to the Daiwa 50th anniversary edition Zillion from a few years ago. I own one a TD zillion 50th anniversary and when taken apart this reel is identical. It is very smooth, although maybe not quite as smooth as a Steez, and with a slightly heavier feel. It is better suited for jigs/weights over 3/16 oz, where as a Steez 103HA or 103SHA with the v shaped spool can handle lighter jigs. The brake is pretty good. As usual with the higher end Team Daiwa reels, the fit and finish is perfect. I would highly recommend this reel to someone looking for a higher ratio reel in the $400 range. I've owned a wide array of Shimano and Daiwa reels. In my opinion this reel surpasses any compact bait caster Shimano offers in terms of ease of use and features.
My only complaint, if I can even call it that, is that it is close enough in price to the Steez that it is worth the extra $100 to just get the steez.

Been using this reel for a bit now, and all i can say is that im in love... First lets talk about the speed.... 7.3 retrieval speed is just phenomenal... Ultra smooth... and if you crank it fast enough you may be breaking the speed-limit rules on your local pond. (or even nearby highway) Ultra long casts, and a fantastic drag.
I would Thoroughly recommend this reel to ANY ONE serious about fishing.
